2009
Annual Report

World Vision provided food and clean water to thousands of children and families after Cyclone Aila swept through India and Bangladesh in May.
Responding to Emergencies

World Vision provides emergency humanitarian assistance to children and families affected by natural disasters and civil conflicts in 2009:
  • World Vision responded to 20 emergencies around the world caused by natural disasters and civil conflicts, by delivering vital humanitarian assistance to children and their families.

  • We worked with communities to prevent, prepare for and reduce the impact of disasters.

  • We advocated tirelessly to gain Canada’s political and financial support for children displaced by war in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. That support helped us provide shelter, water and bedding to thousands.

  • World Vision pioneered a new, innovative mobile technology to help distribute food aid more efficiently and cost-effectively, while giving aid recipients greater protection and dignity.
