Responding to Emergencies
World Vision provides emergency humanitarian assistance to children and families affected by natural disasters and civil conflicts in 2009:
- World Vision responded to 20 emergencies around the world caused by natural disasters and civil conflicts, by delivering vital humanitarian assistance to children and their families.
- We worked with communities to prevent, prepare for and reduce the impact of disasters.
- We advocated tirelessly to gain Canada’s political and financial
support for children displaced by war in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. That support helped us provide shelter, water and bedding to thousands.
- World Vision pioneered a new, innovative mobile technology to help distribute food aid more efficiently and cost-effectively, while giving aid recipients greater protection and dignity.
