At World Vision, we only have one business: child well-being.
All our work is driven toward seeing that every child is educated, healthy, cared for and protected. We want to see every boy and girl participating in making their community a better place to live and loving God and their neighbours.
It's important business to be sure.
That's why World Vision makes sure to conduct its important business in the most accountable, transparent fashion possible. It's why, in addition to reporting to the Canada Revenue Agency, World Vision is also accountable to external partners such as the Canadian International Development Agency and the World Food Programme. These organizations require us to meet strict reporting standards and benchmarks for aid effectiveness.
Furthermore, World Vision is a member of Imagine Canada, a national association for non-profit and voluntary organizations. As an adherent to its Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code, we must abide by what are widely recognized as the best practices in the charitable sector.
World Vision is guided in its work by its volunteer Board of Directorsa group of volunteers with extensive leadership experience in the private, public and non-profit sectors. As an independent body, the Board ensures that World Vision remains accountable in its business of child well-being. At the same time, as donors to World Vision ourselves, we have a personal stake in seeing that the contributions of donors make a real difference in the world.
All our work on the Board, like all the work World Vision does, is done prayerfully and thoughtfully, demonstrating good stewardship. As a Christian organization, World Vision's highest accountability is to God, whose love compels us to find justice, equality and reconciliation for all, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. That is what motivates us in our core business, making sure children everywhere in their communities experience well-being.

Meet our Board of Directors
World Vision's Board of Directors is a body made up of 18 men and women who have prayerfully considered the opportunity and feel called to assist in World Vision's work. Board members possess expertise, skills and insight in a variety of areas that will assist World Vision including:
Relief and development, child health, education and child rights
Networking and influence, public speaking, marketing and communications and public relations
Strategic planning, financial, information technology, legal and human resources
In addition to this, careful attention is given to ensure the Board reflects a balance in its membership in terms of age, gender and geographic representation.
Board members are recruited through a rigorous screening process that sees candidates evaluated by a nominations committee before interviewing and eventual ratification at the Annual General Meeting. Board members take part in a corporate orientation to assist their understanding of the scope of World Vision's work and its governance and stay connected through an extranet site dedicated to Board communications.
Board members meet at least four times a year, and work on three sub-committees: Executive, Audit and Nominations and Board Development.
