In Uganda, children who have lost parents to AIDS are benefitting from World Vision's Channels of Hope program. We reduce the stigma such children face by working with local faith leaders, training them to lead their communities to care for these boys and girls with compassion and understanding.

Focus on Partnerships: Working together for children

There is no way that World Vision on its own could even make a dent in child poverty. In partnership with others, however, we believe we can make a lasting difference.

• Despite uncertain economic times, 390,457 people sponsored children through World Vision Canada and Canadians gave gifts worth $18 million through our Gift Catalogue.
  
  
• Some 8,000 Canadians took action for social justice through the World Vision Justice Network.
  
  
• 157,787 Canadian youth participated in the 30 Hour Famine, raising more than $4 million for relief and development programs.
  
  
• 288 Canadian businesses contributed to our programs around the world.
  
  
• While responding to global emergencies we coordinated closely with the UN and other international agencies to be more effective and reach more children in need. In Canada, more than 43 local non-profit organizations partnered with us to fight poverty in our cities.
  
  
• Joining with us, 2,727 churches helped care for poor and marginalized children and families.
