Canadians rally to aid Southeast Asia
January 05, 2005

Mississauga, ON - Canadians have been deeply affected by the emergency in Southeast Asia.  Many of them have chosen to help by donating to World Vision Canada.

Ottawa's own John and Theresa Bakker have contributed $10,000 and are calling on other realtors to meet their contribution to World Vision's response to Southeast Asia disaster.

"My wife Theresa and I have been in India; the people there and in the three other hardest hit countries need our support in this important relief effort," said John Bakker. "We know this donation to World Vision will make a difference."

With more than three decades of experience in the Southeast Asia region, World Vision is responding with relief in all of the affected countries providing items such as water purification tablets, food rations, cooking utensils, blankets, clothing, personal care items as well as basic materials to build a shelter.

Those unable to attend the levee can donate by calling 1-800-268-5528.
