Canadian businesses give World Vision millions in relief goods for Southeast Asia

Mississauga, December 31, 2004 -Businesses from across Canada have provided World Vision with millions of dollars in goods and services for its southeast Asia emergency response efforts. The companies providing the gifts-in-kind include: Air Canada, Apotex, DuPont, Please Mum and Swiss Medica.

Air Canada will transport this initial donation of supplies to Indonesia during the first week of the New Year. The cargo will include dried food, cooking utensils, children's clothing, pharmaceuticals and personal care items.

"We have always been able to count on the generosity of Canadian businesses in emergencies but the response this time has been unprecedented," said Marilyn Freidmann, vice-president Donor Development, World Vision Canada.

More than 12 companies have already committed to providing goods to support World Vision's response to the southeast Asia crisis. Together, World Vision and these companies will ensure immediate relief items will get to the worst affected and poorest countries in the region.
