What are floods in Pakistan like for a four-year-old?
The Pakistan flood situation has been agonizing to watch, with as many as 20 million people affected by the lethal waters. Among these are 3.5 million children.
It’s horrifying for adults. Now consider what a small child might endure:
- Struggling in water that’s chest deep or over their heads
- Battling deadly currents as waters seek their lowest level
- Enduring long periods of wet, with constant exposure to water-borne illness
- Withstanding the death of family members, siblings or parents
- Watching home being washed away, along with possessions
- Losing the family livelihood and any form of security
- Coping with parents’ grief, anger or confusion
- Fleeing village or community with no place to go
- Travelling in unknown, possibly dangerous areas
- Living without basic necessities with no end in site
World Vision is working to help these children and their families. To learn more, visit our Press Release section or our Photo Gallery. To arrange an interview, please contact:
