World Vision shares award with its loyal supporters
TORONTO, Ont. (April 28, 2011)
A public relations campaign is only as good as the people who see, hear, and respond to it.
That’s why World Vision is proud to share the Canadian Public Relations Society ACE award recognizing creativity and excellence in public relations with all Canadians who helped champion young children and their mothers in the run-up to the G8 Muskoka Summit.
World Vision’s Five for 5 government campaign was designed to address the unacceptable reality that 8.1 million children under the age of five die each year of preventable causes. The ultimate goal was simple: to rally G8 leaders to save lives.
Five for 5 couldn’t have succeeded without individual Canadians choosing to act. We asked you to “do one of five things to help save a child’s life” – and you did them. Responding to our campaign, you took the time to:
- Know what children face, learning the basics from our campaign web site
- Act on their behalf, writing to MPs or signing our petition
- Join the campaign, signing onto our Facebook and Justice Network
- Share with others by using our e-mail tool
- Support a child in need by sponsoring a boy or girl
You played a key role in spreading the messages that would galvanize support for children and mothers. World Vision thanks all those who joined the Five for 5 campaign. Because of you:
- 1.3 million more children will survive past their fifth birthday
- 64,000 women will survive pregnancy and childbirth
World Vision thanks you for the role you played in this highly effective campaign to save lives. Five for 5 continues until 2014, so we’ll be reaching out to you in the months and years to come.
