Canadian singer/songwriter Michelle Wright will perform at World Vision Canada's 1,500 Campaign sponsorship event, to be held at the Ottawa Congress Centre on Jan. 20. The event marks the midway point of the 1,500 Campaign, a partnership between World Vision Canada, 93.9 BOB FM and CJOH-TV. The event is an opportunity for both current sponsors and those interested in learning more about World Vision's work overseas to enjoy some music and to see how child sponsorship truly makes a difference.

The Ottawa 1,500 Campaign is a two-month awareness program in the Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec region to find local sponsors for 1,500 children living in poverty around the world. The focus of the campaign is on giving these children and their families hope for a better future.

Wright will share her personal story of her travels to Zambia with World Vision in 2001. She met a little girl who she now sponsors because she saw for herself the positive impact sponsorship can make on the life of a child and on an entire community.

Campaign spokespersons CJOH weatherman J.J. Clarke and 93.9 BOB FM on-air host Sandy Sharkey will be hosting the event and will recount their stories of a trip they took with World Vision to Honduras last year; both have since become child sponsors.

In addition to Wright, Clarke and Sharkey, World Vision vice-president Linda Tripp and Capital region child sponsors will share their personal experiences of child sponsorship and how it has impacted their lives.
