Mississauga, ON— World Vision Canada is proud to celebrate National Volunteer Week. It is an opportunity for us to celebrate the commitment, enthusiasm, and hard work of our Destination Life Change volunteers.

"All of our volunteers truly make a difference to our work," says Glenda Bock, National Manager, Life Change Network. "Our Destination Life Change volunteers help us grow communities, and raise awareness for poor communities around the world. We appreciate their hard work everyday, but even more so during National Volunteer Week."

Volunteers from across the country recently returned from working trips to El Salvador and Mali, Africa, with a renewed commitment to volunteering to help change the lives of children around the world.

For 10 days these volunteers worked with local community members to assist with the construction of new homes, literacy centres, and other projects. Volunteers also had the opportunity to see child sponsorship in action and visit local families to discuss how their lives have been transformed through the benefits of child sponsorship.

World Vision's Destination Life Change program provides Canadians with an opportunity to participate in short-term work assignments in developing countries, and get involved at a grassroots level in community development.
