Mississauga, ON—World Vision Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Dirk B. Booy as Executive Vice-President.

Mr. Booy holds a Master of Arts degree in Rural Planning and Development from the University of Guelph, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Economics from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has more than 25 years of leadership experience in development and humanitarian assistance, including two decades of service in developing countries. His areas of expertise include strategic planning, leadership development, and international project management.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Booy was the Vice-President of International and Canadian Programs at World Vision Canada for almost four years where he was responsible for all aspects of programming in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Canada. From 1995 - 2002, Mr. Booy served as National Director of World Vision Tanzania, managing one of the organization’s leading development and relief programs in Africa. Mr. Booy worked with the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee in Tanzania (1989 - 1995) as Program Director and in Sierra Leone (1981-1987) as Team Leader. He has written extensively on development management for academic and professional publications.

In his new role, Mr. Booy will be responsible for operational leadership of the organization.
