World Vision and Chad
 World Vision promotes the education of girls in the Laokassy Area Development Project. These girls are in Grade Two, wearing dresses provided by World Vision.
 Mother and baby enjoy an aubergine in the family garden. Some of the produce will be sold at the market. World Vision’s water projects enable people to keep their gardens alive during droughts.
 Ten-year-old Jeremie was indentured to work for about eight months with a nomadic herdsman by his father, who planned to purchase a cow with the wages from Jeremie’s labour. Thanks to a committee set up by World Vision Chad to monitor child exploitation, Jeremie was returned to his family and to school after only a month. |
World Vision has been working in Chad since 1985 and currently serves some 400,000 people. Community development programs are located in central and southern Chad. Programs focus on health and nutrition, education, HIV prevention, water and sanitation, microcredit loans and agricultural development.
World Vision donors sponsor some 30,000 children in Chad, including more than 15,000 sponsored by Canadians.
