TORONTO, Nov. 14, 2011 - Coverage of Toronto Rapper Kardinal Offishall's humanitarian mission to the Horn of Africa with World Vision begins airing tonight on CTV's etalk at 7 p.m. ET, with the first of four segments. Three additional segments documenting the trip air daily on etalk until Nov. 17.

"This trip changed my life," says Kardinal. "I saw kids along the Kenya/Somalia border, five years and under, with nothing to eat, no water and not even a place to live," says the musician.

The Juno Award winner was taken to Africa last month by a team of World Vision staffers working in the famine zone with President and CEO Dave Toycen.

"I got to know a much different man beyond the Rap star," says Toycen. "Kardinal cares about kids and wants to help us save the lives of children".

Kardinal and Toycen's trip also involved a visit to a long term sustainable development where World Vision has been working for a number of years. The Canadian project is just two hours from the famine zone where, as Kardinal noted, "They built a greenhouse in the middle of a desert."

Kardinal Offishall is perhaps best known for his Billboard smash hit "Dangerous." In 2010 he starred along many Canadian stars in the Young Artists for Haiti group formed to assist earthquake victims.

This trip to East Africa was Kardinal's first exposure to a humanitarian disaster.

World Vision is working across the famine declared areas in Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Tanzania and Dadaab Kenya, which are the world's largest refugee camp numbering 450,000 refugees.
