Accomplishment: Education is Key

With sponsors’ support, World Vision is working with parents, school staff and local government to enhance children’s learning.  Below are some of the highlights: 

• For the past three years, World Vision has implemented a preschool alternative teaching program called “Step by Step” for children who live in remote areas.  This new program has shown an increase in preschool enrolment rates from 35% to 75%. 
• In cooperation with professional agencies and local governments, this program runs thanks to the help of volunteer teachers (about 16 parents.)
• Advocacy training was organized for fathers who were  struggling with  alcoholism. After the training, the fathers better understood how their alcoholism affected their families and how they can work to overcome these challenges. 
• About 65 children in grades 1-9 participated in a flu-prevention training that was organized in partnership with the resident school doctor.  After the training, a competition named “fresh air is medicine” was organized whereby 100 children participated in competitions, like running, sledging, and ice skating.
